Lower Tresmorn Self Catering Cottage in Crackington Haven, Bude, Cornwall.

A traditional, white-washed Cornish farm cottage enjoying un-interrupted views across wooded valleys and fields to the sea. Sleeps 2-4 in one double and one twin room.

Imagine staying in your own secluded Cornish cottage on a National Trust farm on the dramatic North Cornish coast with breathtaking walks starting from your front door and a very special farmhouse restaurant in easy walking distance.

Take a walk down the lane and over the fields to the spectacular cliffs. In ten minutes you will find yourself amidst some of the most beautiful and unspoilt scenery on this coast. The coast path to Crackington Haven, about an hour's walk, is well worth the effort. Having enjoyed refreshments at the pub or café walk back via the church and through the woods.

The local walks are a delight whatever the time of year but remember to pack stout boots or wellingtons to enable you to walk when it is wet under foot.

Feel free to wander over the farm and watch the day to day goings on changing with the seasons. Our sheep have their lambs in March and the cows are supposed to have their calves in the spring though in practice this does not always go to plan! Harvesting grass for silage is carried out in late May and early June depending on the weather and the sheep are sheared in the summer.

IN THE SUMMER....
Enjoy relaxing in the garden. There is a real sun-trap at the front of the cottage offering complete peace and privacy.

This is a lovely place to have a picnic without having to pack up the food and carry it although you will probably be very tempted to try other spots on the cliffs or in the woods by the stream.

Have a cool glass of wine and watch the sun disappearing over the sea.

There are many lovely beaches within 15 minutes drive and the closest, at Crackington Haven, just five minutes by car, is arguably the best. Safe and sandy, with rock pools and towering cliffs, un-commercialised but with good amenities for refreshments, it is a lovely spot.

In the cooler seasons, when an Atlantic gale is blowing, curl up in front of the fire with a good book and just enjoy the cosiness and tranquility of Lower Tresmorn cottage.

WHERE TO GO AND WHAT TO DO FURTHER AFIELD

WHEN YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE COOKING....

We serve delicious home-cooked dinners once or twice a week and we recommend that you reserve a table in advance as we are also open to non-residents. Our own beef and lamb is often on the menu and all ingredients used in our cooking are sourced as locally as possible.

On other evenings there are several possibilities. The closest pubs are one on the junction of the A30 at Wainhouse Corner and the Combe Barton Inn by the beach at Crackington.

It is difficult to make strong recommendations as people have different criteria and places can change hands etc. During the busiest times establishments are often over-stretched and you may have to wait a while, which hopefully will not matter too much when you are on holiday. If you have found somewhere you like and would like to share your 'find' please tell us about it.

At the time of writing this [June 2008] these are the current recommendations. Reservations are adviseable during the summer months and at week-ends to be sure of a table and please ask us if you would like us to make a phone call for you.
